Britain’s Most Unreliable Car Parts Revealed

Warranty Direct has used the data from 50,000 of its policies to compile a list of the worst performing parts for each category. They have then combined all of these parts into a single vehicle, which can only be described as horrific, in fact they have named it the ‘Horrific 40RROR’.

Not all of the bad performers are obvious, with the E60 BMW M5 performing poorly in the engine stakes, with owners having to have work done on the motor once a year on average. Audi didn’t fair much better, but in the case of this German manufacturer it’s the suspension that lets it down. Are you surprised to see two flagship models at the top of the unreliability stakes, especially from manufacturers that many people think are reliable?

The gearbox is courtesy of Jeep, thanks to the fact 1 in 10 Jeep Cherokee owners have to have work done yearly on theirs. Mercedes once had a reputation for being over engineered, and it appears the old electrical problems still plague some of them, with 3 in 10 R-Class MPV owners having electrical faults every year.

If the looks alone weren’t scary enough, then the Fiat Multipla also has the worst brakes around, a perfect addition to the monstrous motor being compiled. The air conditioning is straight out of a SEAT Alhambra, with the Spanish manufacturer leaving its drivers sweatier than average.

When your Multipla braking system has failed, then you need rubbish steering to ensure maximum fear, and thankfully they have just the vehicle to donate it. The Chrysler 300C leaves a staggering 10% of owners with twitchy bums when trying to steer the large car.

From our own experience we can add the six speed M32 gearbox fitted predominantly in the Vauxhall range, this is still our number one seller!
