Our Favourites From Geneva

When it comes to motoring shows, Geneva is one of the biggest on the calendar. Many manufacturers select the one closest to their home country to debut new models, but Geneva regularly features a host of new arrivals that leave us dribbling and searching down the back of the settee for loose change to buy a lottery ticket.

Of course the vast majority of these cars are completely bonkers and unrealistic for 99.9% of people. But in the imaginary universe where I can afford one, these cars would also make lovely daily drivers.

Below we have selected a few of our favourites.

Aston Martin DB11

The long anticipated replacement for the DB9 is here, and it’s not a disappointment. While it is still unmistakably an Aston Martin DB, the design has been sharpened enough to bring it up to date, and the technology, performance and comfort have been dramatically improved. The 5.2-litre packs 600bhp that thrusts the DB11 to 62mph in 3.9 seconds. The DBX crossover concept, which will be built in Wales, was also at the show, but the DB11 definitely stole the limelight.

Lamborghini Centenario

Lamborghini are renowned for their adventurous designs. Some, like the Sesto Elemento, are drop dead gorgeous. Others are a little more questionable. This one definitely falls into the first category. The limited edition 760bhp coupe is capable of 217mph, and hits 62mph in 2.8 seconds.

Koenigsegg Regera

The bonkers manufacturer hasn’t disappointed with the final version of its latest road destroying monster. The Regera packs a whopping 1500bhp, hits 62mph in 2.8 seconds, and is capable of over 250mph.

Bugatti Chiron

It’s pointless to throw praise at the successor to the Veyron, just look at the stats. 1479bhp. 8.0-litre quad turbo. 0 to 62mph in under 2.5 seconds. Limited to 261mph for safety reasons, but capable of more. It doesn’t look too shabby either.

Apollo Arrow

Do you remember the Gumpert Apollo? Well Gumpert went bankrupt, and the new owners have salvaged the company from the ashes, and rebranded it as Apollo. This 1000bhp car is their first offering. Called the arrow, we expect it to retain many of the bonkers traits of the original car, but it is definitely now a little easier on the eye.
